Hadenfield NM
This rural, sleepy town just south of Wandering falls and connects to Tounela, Hadenfield nicknamed “the little town that time forgot,” has a population of about 500. The busiest road, Devils Boulevard, is lined with historical architecture, pine tress and antique storefronts.
They say sports is king, and it’s not for nothing. It’s the night when all over America young men and women step out onto the grid iron, field or court to fight for their old alma mater. In an age of interstate highways and fading small towns, high school sports has the power to ignite and unite a small town like few things can. Year after year, the faithful supporters live and die with the team’s record. More so than just a winning sports program, it is those fans who make a town one of the best high schools in America.
“A Friday night game around here, the town shuts down,” says head coach James O'Riley. Apparently local business owners know everyone in town will be watching the Devil's play at the East Devils stadium, field or court. They just don't care about losing money. The passion this town has for its team is bar none to any other small country town. At least no one can argue with the results: three straight championships from the Devil's continues dominance as one of the area powerhouses.
